Get Involved

At New Life we love it when people get ‘Involved’. This may mean serving on one of our ACTS projects, or helping with children’s work on a Sunday morning. It may mean serving on our welcome or ‘New People’ teams or helping out on our technical-team. Whatever skills and gifts you have we can help you fulfil the potential in your life and we would love to champion you as you volunteer and serve the church and local community.

Whatever skills and gifts you have we can help you fulfil the potential in your life and we would love to champion you as you volunteer and serve the church and local community.

Involved is exactly what it says on the tin. On this page we aim to connect you with the need. We aim to show you the possibilities, and let you experience the tremendous sense of fulfilment as you serve another person or as you give yourself to building church in our wonderful town.

There are three areas in which you can be “involved”, please read through them and if you feel that they could be for you then email us and you will be considered for the role.

Evergreen is a New Life Grantham ministry to the over 65’s, both in the community of the town and to those within New Life Church.

The purpose of the Ministry is to show God’s love, both in friendship and in practical ways. To re-affirm and remind the older generation that they still have worth, that they are special and unique, both to God and to us. To help re-kindle the faith that some of them may have had in their younger years. To treat them with respect, as equals, not as society’s rejects. To reassure them that life’s not over yet, that they still have a meaningful contribution to make. Giving time to listen to them talk about their lives, sharing about the good times and the bad times and the things that are important to them. To demonstrate to them, through our witness, that God loves them, that He is approachable, that He wants us all to enjoy Him and have fun! We aim to offer Prayer and Spiritual Comfort if and when we are invited to do so.

What’s happening now?

Evergreen’s main outreach at the moment is held at the Central Place Community Centre, in Grantham, which we started on March 24th 2009.

We meet there every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays for Tea and coffee, biscuits and cakes and a friendly chat. We have a programme of various activities, quizzes, games, sing-songs and most of all - fun! If there is a Birthday we celebrate with a cake and try to do something which relates to that person’s favourite activity. We always end the morning with a prayer.

At present we have 4 ladies aged from 65 – 90, with 2 more ladies who pop in occasionally. We have taken the ladies out on trips to Belton Garden Centre for Tea and Cakes, to Downtown to see the Christmas exhibits and held a Christmas Carol Service for them in the Community Centre.

Other aspects of the Evergreen Ministry

Apart from expanding the Ministry into other Community Centres our plan is to visit nursing and care homes where we can share God’s Love and Comfort with the older generation, especially those in their last days. Again, we hope to offer prayer when needed.

We would like also to offer seasonal services and entertainment at Christmas, Easter and other times.

Our Vision for Evergreen in the Future

Premises permitting, we are hoping to hold a monthly mid-week daytime service where the Over 65’s within the church can have a meal together, enjoy a time of worship, prayer and fellowship and also bring along their friends.

The team leaders for Evergreen are Philip and Suzanne Collins.

As we meet in a school there is a lot of setting up and setting down to be done each week. Every week a team of four or five people arrive at 830am and sets everything up for the morning. It takes around an hour to be fully set up. This is an essential role in our church as we do not yet own our own building and want our set up to be excellent and in a sense to have an environment owned by New Life each week.

No previous experience is required and you will receive full training “on the job”.  It is also not dependant upon being able to lift heavy weights as there are things to be set up that do not weigh that much.

The initial commitment would be on a rota basis and being on a team every three weeks; although the more people who help obviously the longer the gap between the weeks you are on will be.

This is an immensely rewarding role, and one which is essential to our future as a church.

Please contact us if you would like to be considered for this team.

At New Life we are passionate about giving our children the best experience possible during Sunday services. We have a dedicated team of skilled children’s workers and have a very exciting vision for growth and expansion. With this in mind we have a wonderful opportunity to serve children and impart into their lives. We are looking for dynamic, energetic, passionate and creative people who understand that one of the greatest joys in life is to teach, support, pastor, encourage and lead young children.

If you have a desire to volunteer on a fun-filled, action-packed, energetic and vibrant team this opportunity is for you. Subject to a CRB check and interview we are looking for a number of people to join the Elevate team. You would be able to choose which age group you would prefer to work with and presently we have opportunities with all ages.

The monthly requirement would be at least one and the maximum of three Sundays.

Please contact us if you would like to be considered for this team.

Currently we have exciting opportunities for anyone who is passionate about worship, has a heart for excellence, is a
great team player and has a desire to serve the ChurchNew life band during Sunday meetings and occasional mid-week meetings.

The Technical Team is a vibrant, dynamic team which has the privilege of serving the church each week. We currently have opportunities for anyone interested in serving on the visual team.

Some computer / IT experience is a requirement although full training will be given on the use of our system.

A monthly requirement would be to serve a maximum of 2 Sundays each month.

Please contact us if you would like to be considered for this team.
